★ Official Bug Report and Issue Tracking

Re: ★ Unofficial bug track

Well, that was quick.

Thanks for your email and efforts.

I've just spoken to Jon who says that yes, he has used the bug tracker in the past but not as much at present, as he is focusing on output around 3.0. We expect that once that's out, Jon or a new hire will be able to deal exclusively in customer support and bug reports, and your tracker will be a great tool then too.

At present it is very useful for me: I get many bug reports each week and as Jon isn't answer each one, I'm able to send them your way which I agree is a better solution than sending them to the forum. It's so wonderful having a place where users can get specific responses, I believe it certainly helps us with customer retention as we move through the current low staff phase of Sublime.

I'll have a more extended look through the threads now to see if there is anything in particular that could be emphasized to assist us further, but please know that both Jon and I really appreciate the service you and your team is providing to the broader Sublime Text community voluntarily.

While we are on hiring stage, maybe they will hire a highly trained monkey to install http://www.discourse.org/
And import existing phpBB posts: https://meta.discourse.org/t/importing- ... ourse/7956

Or maybe fix the server time in the meantime ;)

"Official Bug Track" that's progress.

What about asking now for some moderator accounts. We need at least one more forum, named "Themes", and some indiscriminately close of threads "duplicates", pointing to the already discussed issues, which will enrich a little bit the community organization. Is that possible?

We don't really need moderators to close duplicates because users can point users to already discussed issues very well already.

I second @iamntz's approach for switching to discourse instead and then adding moderators because that is awesome. Yeah, and making the issue tracker somewhat more official too.

Now that the github repo is official, what is to become of the Sublime UserEcho board? Will it be turned off and archived to prevent the bifurcation of bug reports? I like github as an issue tracker, but having two different locations to report bugs is confusing and makes it seem like the project is disorganized, especially since neither one is linked off the sublime homepage and neither one acknowledges the existence of the other.

I hope this doesn't come across too harshly, but I feel a little burned because I just spent a couple hours commenting on issues on the UserEcho board, and it seems like a waste if it's dead.

:?
He wants release 3.0 but doesn't care of its reported bugs ?
