There are at least two different kind of tab switching in Sublime that I am aware of:
“next_view_in_stack” might do exactly what you want. Check the default keymap to see what they are on your system.

You’re right, “next_view_in_stack” is close to what I want, but not quite. As the name suggests with the word “stack”, it moves from/to tabs depending on the order visited. What I was after was really the next/previous tab as they are in the UI. Basically what “next_view” and “prev_view” do, but withouth skipping to another layout group in the process.
