File associations under windows

#1

Clicked on a .c file in windows, nothing is associated with them so i went through the whole browsing for what to open the file with and selected the always option. Browsed to sublime text and… windows proceeded to open the file with Atmel Studio not sublime text which I had selected. ^&#^$!!!

how do i fix this ms windows stupidity?

I know this is not a sublime text error but i am not able to associate any files with sublime text any more.

Double click an unassociated file, windows pops up an “open with” window. st3 is not in the list
click on browse, browse to prog files (x86)/sublime text (this directory has a padlock on it).
select the sublime text executable. this takes you back to the “open with” window which still has no sublime text option

note:
I have lost more hours of productivity in windows with errors just like this one that I ever did in Gentoo Linux where I have to compile everything including firefox/LibreOffice etc.

Hi,

I’ve had similar problem. Maybe it is same issue, related with ST2 in regedit.

Please open regedit.exe and go following path:

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Applications\sublime_text.exe\shell\open\command\

You should see on right pane, string value with path point to ST exe.
Check if its not pointing to old ST2 path. If yes, just replace to correct exe.

It’s worked for me.
