When I do a find, say Find in Folder, is it possible to ignore certain directories (and everything underneath them) or certain files?

For example: I have projects where the compiler creates temp dirs and files, and I don’t want them included in finds. I’d like this to be a permanent setting that I don’t have to type every time I search.
