Disable incremental features?

Disable incremental features?

Postby bigreddot on Tue Feb 21, 2012 10:34 pm

Is it possible to disable the incremental find/search functionality? I am usually searching for some other instance of text I am looking at, which is made difficult when the view window starts jumping around wildly as soon as I start typing. I just want to be able to type my entire search term and not have it search until I am done doing so.

Similarly, I'd love to be able to turn off the incremental "go-to line" functionality as well. If I want to jump to line 1240 it is very visually jarring to see the view jump to line 1 then line 12 then line 124 for no reason before jumping to line 1240.

If it matters, I am using Vintage/vim emulation mode.

Thanks!

1. click on the word
2. Find > Quick Find

Agreed about incremental goto line. More distracting than useful.

Hi,

Thanks for the info, I was really looking for a method that was keyboard-only, though. (I should have mentioned that in the OP) I use the vim plugin, so I just want to be able to use slash to search, but not have it seach as I type what I am looking for.
