How do I "un-preview" a selected file?

#1

Hello,

If I select a file from the file list (just single click, NOT double click), it will show me the contents of the file. No tabs will open.

If I don’t want to see the contents of the file, how do I hide it or “un-preview” it, or whatchamacallit, to make the preview go away? I tried various key, Ctrl, Alt, Shift, clicking all over the place, Esc, this, that and the other, the preview does not go away. I can select another file to preview, but I just want to get back to an empty workspace/window.

How can I make the preview go away?

Thanks.

Same as closing any other view: Cmd+W (or Ctrl+W if you’re using Windows / Linux).

To continue this discussion – IMO this “preview” thing is a very bad interface, or at least badly executed.

Open a folder, and single click on a file. You get a preview.

Then, double click on a different file. A tab opens.

But you can then single click on other files, and the new previews open under the tab for the file you double-clicked. This is VERY confusing.

My $0.02.

The feature can be disabled with the preview_on_click setting.
