graphics artifiacts on ubuntu 12.04 with ST2

Postby mbrannig on Fri Feb 01, 2013 3:03 am

I have a fully updated ubuntu 12.04 desktop running xfce (no unity) and after installing updates, I get many for redraw artifacts make ST2 pretty much unusable on the screen. It is the whole window, not just a specific area of the main window. I am using the ATI fglx driver on a 64bit box with a triple head.

[ 16.299] (II) Loading /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/xorg/extra-modules/modules/drivers/fglrx_drv.so
[ 16.331] (II) Module fglrx: vendor="FireGL - AMD Technologies Inc."
[ 16.331] compiled for 1.4.99.906, module version = 9.0.2
[ 16.331] Module class: X.Org Video Driver

Anyone else seeing this? When files are open it can be worse. Is there other information that would be helpful?

Same problem here. I have gnome-session-fallback installed, and everything looks fine in "Unity", and in "GNOME Classic". But in "GNOME Classic (no effects)" (which is what I use), I see the same screen artifacts.

The fix by serialhex in this thread (viewtopic.php?f=3&t=9672&start=10) seems to have worked for me.
