I’m going crazy here.

I’m typing some Ruby, but for some reason if I type a space followed by any of the letters ‘e’, ‘r’, t’, ‘v’ or ‘x’, then the space disappears. Other letters are fine.

Are you sure it isn’t a plugin causing that. I recall someone else having space issues, or maybe it was newlines? around certain characters. Anyways, I think they traced the cause back to a plugin. Try reverting (sublimetext.com/docs/2/revert.html) and see if it really is the editor or if one of the lpugins is doing something funny. You can then add the plugins back one by one to see what is causing it (if it is in fact a plugin).
