Reassign "New File" keyboard command

Reassign "New File" keyboard command

Postby petebocken on Mon Aug 12, 2013 8:35 pm

I would like to reassign the "New File" keyboard command to "command+T" to match web browsers. I am on OS X, so I tried setting this up in Keyboard Shortcuts in the Keyboard System Preferences. This changed the menu item keyboard shortcut designation,however it does not create a new file, it still pops up the tab selection/search drop down. Pressing the keyboard shortcut Command+T appears to use something in the Goto menu, but there isn't an item there for the tab selection/search drop down.

Is there a way to change this in the SublimeText settings?

You can create a user key binding for it. Go to "Preferences -> Key Bindings - User"

Then enter the following in the file

Code: Select all
[
    { "keys": ["super+t"], "command": "new_file" }
]
