Coloring tabs and spaces

How do I add decoration color for tabs and whitespaces (at the end of the line)?

Tryed this, but it does nothing (works on textmate):

seems there is no solution for this, its doesn't work for any of the available color schemes.

hope it will be fixed on new versions.
