How do I exit the distraction free mode without exiting fullscreen on yosemite?

I’d love to know this too - seems like it should be simple as there seems to be no issue moving from Fullscreen -> Distraction Free

i tried everything…
Turns out, it’s the save as a browser (firefox for example)
F11Landis.
