ST3 on OS X unusable with separate high-CPU app running

#1

I’m using ST3 on Mac OS 10.9.5 on a four-core Macbook Pro. The program runs fine nearly all the time with minimal resource usage. However, if I’m running other apps that hog CPU usage, Sublime becomes unusable.

Hadbrake will happily use over 300% of my CPU% when ripping a blu-ray disc. Some system sluggishness is to be expected. However, OS X is pretty great at allocating CPU resources and my other apps, including processor-intensive ones like Photoshop, continue to run well during this time. Why is it Google Chrome doesn’t complain about 10+ tabs open during a disc rip but ST3 can barely keep up with my typing to a single open file?

Is there any way to tell OS X to allocate additional CPU resources to Sublime?
