Selection Highlighting Changes Foreground

When I select text in sublime, it loses the syntax highlighting, all of the text is displayed as white. Can this be changed? Is there a way to make the highlight only change the background color and not the foreground?

+1 on this, it was a pretty jarring change coming from TextMate.

Though I do really like how SM2 reveals invisibles in the highlighted text. It eased the pain of getting used to monochrome selected text.
