Stop deleting comments from preferences

I liked to leave comments in my preferences files until I discovered they were being stripped out the next time I opened them. Can this behavior be changed? Thanks!

A couple uses:
- easily switch between favorite fonts
- hints for what the options do

They're stripped out when the file is programatically modified. This should only be happening when you change the colour scheme or font size via the menu.
