I’m not sure if this should be classified as a bug or a feature request, but when I perform a sort on a column selection no sorting occurs (but my selection highlight gets altered in to an odd alternating pattern). I’d like to be able to sort lines based on a selected column block, which is a feature I’m used to having in the editor I’m thinking migrating from.

I’m using beta build 2181 on Windows 7 x64.

I would love to have the ability to do what TextPad does.

You select a column of text, hit F9 and it sorts all the affected lines but using the column text to sort them by.

e.g. If you highlighted the fgab column (second from the end)

abcdefg
bcdefga
cdefgab
defgabc

hit f9 and it sorts the entire rows like this such that the column is now abfg

cdefgab
defgabc
abcdefg
bcdefga

This is hugely helpful when trying to sort something like log data where there is a timestamp that is out of order so you can see what happened in the right order. Or when you just want to get everything with a certain prefix/suffix together etc.

These options would be great as well
