Removing tab close button also removes tab "dirty" indicator

#1

Hi,

Using this setting: "show_tab_close_buttons": false also disables the indicator that shows if a file has been modified since last save. Is this a bug? Or if not, is there a way to keep the modification indicator? When I have many tabs, I don’t want to accidentally close a tab (I just use Ctrl-W to close).

Thanks!

6 years later, the bug is still there…

I cannot confirm this. When I set show_tab_close_buttons: false, it still showing the modified indicator as a blue bar on the top of the view.

I am using the default theme. May be the theme you are using did not correctly handled the modified coloring. Are you using a default theme?

Or the setting highlight_modified_tabs is set to false and the close button was originally used to identify modified files.

Well duh, but the OP was asking for a solution and it’s there. Obviously if the close button isn’t there it also can’t indicate anything, so you use another indicator. You can’t be serious if you think that’s a bug.
