How to add a new language on the basis of the old?

#1

I want to use your editor, but my favourite language isn’t supported. It is bad news. Good news is that this language is similar on the Python syntactic. Besides, it has some lexical similarity to the Visual Basic. In this regard I had an idea to add support of this language gradually. At first I will copy syntax highlighter of the Python, and I will correct then divergences between these two languages. It is possible? How to copy the available syntactic scheme in the new? What can you advise to me? Perhaps, I exaggerate complexity of addition of new language “from scratch”? I didn’t find rather detailed documentation. It would be absolutely remarkable, if there was a converter for schemes from other editors. My favourite language is supported by Notepad++, UltraEdit, Programmer’s Notepad, Geany, something else… Unfortunately, I can’t interrupt my work therefore I should migrate quickly or not to do it at all.
