How to make a Shortcut in Ubuntu 12 Unity

Postby rommel on Mon Sep 03, 2012 3:16 am

Hi,

Sorry in advance for the newbie question. I'm kinda new to ubuntu and sublime.

Anyhows i installed sublime and its working fine but i want to be able to run it via the shortcut key in unity (the windows key > then type in the name of the program).

In the instructions it says to do

sudo ln -s /path/to/sublime_text /usr/bin/subl

so i did a

Code: Select all
sudo ln -s ~/Sublime\ Text\ 2/sublime_text /usr/bin/subl

which is where my install is. When i do press the shortcut key then type in subl it opens a the folder but then i have to click on the "sublime_text" binary for it to run.

Can anyone point out what i'm doing wrong?

TIA!
