I am constantly thinking that the background tab is the current tab due to the current tab being dark and the background tab being light. It always appears to my subconscious that the lit up highlighted background tab is the currently active one.

Me too, so I have installed Soda Theme, which is really nice. Then I searched for the Soda folder or Packaged Zip. Opened, and tinted with green the file “tab-active.png” with photoshop. {2cents}
