Remember initial column position on keyboard nav

#1

I’ve been using sublime for at least a year now perhaps more than two, but there’s one subtle Textpad behavior/feature I still sorely miss.
I’m not quite sure what to call it, but I will try to explain it.

  1. I place my cursor on line x, column 10.
  2. I type (or paste in) some text (while staying on the same line)
  3. I move my cursor up or down.
  4. My cursor is now on a new line, my cursor is at column 10 (the column I started my edit on the previous line, not the column I ended on)

Is this an option I’m missing or a plug-in?
It just worked so intuitively in Textpad

Glad you find it useful.
But it’s a very hacky way of doing it and I’m not sure it must be in Pacakge Control.

I still expect jps find it useful and implement it in core ST with a settings to enabled it.
