When you drag a tab off of a window, it creates a new window with just that tab in (You can also drag the tab onto a currently open window to add it to that window). The problem is, is that when you drag the last tab off of the window, the window doesn’t close, it just stays there for now reason.

In your user global settings, add the following:

"close_windows_when_empty": true
