I’d love to use splitting and moving more, but I find the keyboard shortcuts so unintuitive that it causes me to always have to look at the menus, which causes friction and therefore I don’t use the feature as much as I’d like. So here’s what I think would improve it:
]Have a keyboard shortcut to split in a given direction; e.g., ctrl-shift-down to create a new split below the current pane; ctrl-shift-right for new split to the right; etc./]
]Have a keyboard shortcut to move the current tab in a given direction; e.g., ctrl-alt-shift-down to move the current tab to the pane below./]
]Have a keyboard shortcut to close the pane in a given direction; e.g., alt-ctrl-down/]
Perhaps instead of multiple finger salutes, Vim-style combos could be used instead; e.g., ctrl-k, down. Actually, what I think I have in my head is kind of similar to Vim’s window commands. I always found them to be pretty intuitive.
