Search term 'font' not allowed.

Postby SteveCooperOrg on Mon May 04, 2009 7:12 pm

I'm trying to hunt down posts on font size and spacing. I was surprised to find, though, that 'font' was considered too common for search; type 'font' into the search box and you get a message telling you your search can't be completed.

This is a bit of a problem on a forum for a text editor, I think. I'd suggest it gets removed from the list of too-common words. Other banned words include;

- line
- plugin
- api

yep, me too! ;)

Here's something nice about firefox I hadn't realised --

- right-click on the search box in this forum.
- Choose 'Add a keyword for this search...'.
- enter name="Sublime Text Forum Search", keyword="subl", then accept.
- type, eg 'subl antialiasing' into firefox's location bar.

It'll jump straight into sublime's forum search page with the term you specified. Neat!

For those using Chrome, click on the tools icon -> Options -> Manage (in the Default Search area)
You should see a list of the websites where chrome automatically found search boxes.

To add sublime text's forums, you can use:
Code: Select all
http://www.google.com/search?&q=site:http://www.sublimetext.com/forum %s

or, even better (not sure if it's related to the Site Search paid service):
Code: Select all
http://www.google.com/search?sitesearch=http://www.sublimetext.com/forum&as_q=%s

Then choose a keyword et voilà.

Google is fine for most needs but only drawback is that you can't search current topics made before the indexing happens again... which it might or might not be a biggie.

For example try searching for this topic....
