General configuration file

General configuration file

Postby wernight on Mon Sep 24, 2012 4:00 pm

Nearly all configuration files follow the same format on Linux and now also on Windows:

Code: Select all
# comment
[section]
key = value

Would be nice to have a general cfg/conf/ini/configuration format. The INI format exists but it's purely Windows INI and not general *nix cfg.

Sublime Text can use TextMate language grammars (.tmLanguage), and I bet one already exists for config files.

I'm asking to get a generic one built-in as there are so many config files which follow this pattern.

Take a look here: viewtopic.php?f=4&t=850
I'm using that and php.ini looks great on it.

Also this may help you on editing apache-like conf: https://github.com/colinta/ApacheConf.tmLanguage
