I think when you switch from one to two column layout, or some operation like that, that creates a new empty view, sublime should automatically (or make it an option if needed) move the active buffer into the new view. Most of the time, you switch to a multi-view for a reason, not just to have half the screen empty, therefore I think it would be an interesting behavior that saves time.
