Enabling overwrite mode

#1

Hello,
How do you enable overwrite mode? I couldn’t find this information anywhere.

Thanks,
Nacho

On Windows and Linux, you can press the insert key.

On OS X there’s no key for it by default, but you can bind one to the “toggle_overwrite” command.

There is no Alt key on Mac.

Alt == Option, at least that’s what the label says on each of my bog standard Apple keyboards. And “alt” is how the Alt/Option key is specified in the ST configuration files. Though if we are being pedantic (which I am), the Command key is specified as “super”. And, indeed, looking at my default ST3 keyboard config file toggle_overwrite is bound to “super+alt+o”.

For future reference for non-globilists, the so-called “alt” key is labeled differently on American machines vs. others. I don’t know about the entire world, but in UK machines the key called “alt” in USA, next to “command” key" is called “option”.

I haven’t the foggiest why Apple chose to do this. I don’t know how non-English language keys are labeled.

Now I get it; no secret at all. It is already there:

{ “keys”: [“super+alt+o”], “command”: “toggle_overwrite” },
