Feature Request: central column for writing plain text

#1

So, as well as a programmer’s editor, I use ST to write fiction, documents, tech specs, etc. A text width around 70-80 characters makes that easier. ST has the ability to show a ruler in plain text, but not wrap to it.

I’d like to see ST allow one of two things;

  1. A ‘central column’ of text, like WriteRoom does on the mac. This works well in full-screen mode;

  1. the ability to wrap text at the ruler, rather than the screen edge

This sort of feature would be awesome for writing non-code

These are both pretty straightforward with the current code base, so I added them this morning - they’ll be in the next beta.

If you turn off everything under View/Full Screen Settings, and only have a single file open, then in full screen mode the only bit of furniture on the screen is the vertical scrollbar.

Dammit, Jon. There’s no suspense in our relationship any more. Everything I ask for goes into the next beta. :smile:

However…

When I open Sublime Text, 1USD is deposited into a Swiss bank account specified under Tools | Preferences | Free Money Account…

Let’s see you get THAT into the next beta!

:wink:

Anyway, thanks, Jon. Looking forward to the beta.

You’re making it harder for me to not use Sublime Text! If only there was a osx version sob
