License and registration

#1

I just found out about Sublime and trying out the Sublime 2 beta version. It seems to be great and looks like some thing I can consider as my main editor/IDE.
Few things i need to know before I switch though:

]Is Siblime Text an opensource project?/]
]What license id the project under?/]
]What’s the difference between registers and unregistered versions/instances?/]
]Is the registration fee a one time payment or recurring/]
]Do I need to register multiple installations separately?/]
]Do i need to re-register new releases?/]

 1. no
 2. see the eula: sublimetext.com/buy
 3. see sublimetext.com/buy
 4. registration covers versions 1 and 2, but if there’s a 3 then it won’t cover that.

On 3:
Sublime Text may be downloaded and evaluated for free, however a license must be purchased for continued use.
“continued use”… hmm, okay, so it implies that the unregistered version will expire? How long until that happens? Why is this so vague?

3 is covered if you purchase a ST2 license right now as it’s technically a ST 3 license.

If you go to the “Buy” page and click on “Frequently Asked Questions” you will find your answers.
Among other information it also says:

IMHO it’s only fair to purchase a license if you’re planning to keep on using ST.

Nope, actually ST unregistered never expires, it keeps popping up an alert from time to time asking you to buy a license, like some commercial plugins do, but will continue to be usable and without limitations afaik.
