I’m using build 2165, and have added ‘“tab_completion”: false’ to my “File Settings - User” preferences file, as per the documentation. I continue to get tab completion behavior nonetheless.

Is the documentation wrong? Am I missing something? Is this a bug, and if so when will it be fixed?

Tab completion and auto complete are related, but different - the setting you want is:

"auto_complete": false
