I’ve looked in the docs, and I’m missing something. I want to turn on spell checking for a single opened document. Normally I want it turned off.

Is there a way to do this? I guess what I’m looking for is a way to change a setting on a per open file basis.

Thanks!! I didn’t notice it under the view menu.

(I’m still interested in how to change settings for a single file if that’s possible–if
anyone can answer that just as quickly as easily off the cuff!)

It should stay that way for each file. By default, when you create a new tab, it stays off. If you wanted to toggle it on forever for all new files, go to Prefs>Settings User> & add “spell_check”: true, (with the comma & ") on line 3 & save.
