New plugin: NewFileWithSave

Postby phillip.koebbe on Mon Nov 26, 2012 1:45 pm

More often than not, when I create a new file, I know what I want to call it and where it's going to be saved. I got tired of creating a new file and then immediately saving it, so I created this (admittedly) very simple plugin to prompt for saving right when you create a new file. It works when you use the key combination SUPER+N or when you right click in the side bar and choose New File, but it does *not* work when you use the File -> New File menu item (haven't been able to find a way to totally replace a menu item). I've been using this for a number months (6+) and wasn't planning on releasing it until recently when a coworker expressed a desire to have the same functionality. It's available in Package Control or on GitHub [1]. It has *not* been tested with any plugins that enhance the side bar. Please file any problems or suggestions on GitHub [2].
