New User - Easy question

Just downloaded Sublime and when I open a code file it does not show the code in color, only black and white..I'm sure it's a simple fix...just not finding it

ctrl+shift+p => set syntax

also on top menu->view->syntax

I click on the option at the bottom-right corner.
