Unable to scroll text with a trackpoint mouse

Unable to scroll text with a trackpoint mouse

Postby asigurds on Wed Jan 27, 2010 11:16 pm

Hi.

On a ThinkPad laptop, I'm unable to scroll the file being edited with the combination of the trackpoint mouse and the middle trackpoint button (hope this makes sense).
The trackpoint works in most other software like Firefox, Chrome and so on.

This is a side effect of the trackpoint software not sending standard WM_MOUSEWHEEL and WM_MOUSEHWHEEL messages, but instead inspecting windows for scrollbars and fiddling with them directly. This doesn't work with software like Sublime Text that uses custom scrollbars. I'd like to add explicit support for the trackpoint into Sublime Text, but until then, you could try a work around suggested by another user:

We need to add following text:

; Sublime text
*,*,sublimetext.exe,*,*,SKMainWindowClass,WheelStd,0,9

in C:\<programm files dir>\Synaptics\SynTP\TP4table.dat just before this block:

;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;
; Pass 1 rules (These rules run last)
;
; If no scrolling method was found with the builtin logic, then
; these rules are checked.
;
;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;

So that it's in the Pass 0 rules.

And restarting SynTPEnh.exe (which is in the same folder as the dat
file) by killing it with Task-Manager or just by restarting Windows.

and the trackpoint scrolling is now working on a thinkpad t61p (v. 20100201, didn't check with v. 20100131).
