Hope it could be made into ST3: File Icon and Label Color (supported by many editors in OS X)
using Sublime Text 3 dev in OS X 10.8

I would like to register my approval of this feature request. I think we should try and appreciate that a number of people want the option to use sublime as an IDE, and although it does a great job of being a text editor, most of the user base are developers.

I want the sidebar to have the ability to add icons through the plugin API. I don't necessarily want or care about folder / file type icons. I want the ability to show an icon in the side bar so I can see git status of files in the tree.

I agree with the ability to do custom styling (colors) sidebar items. Would be nice to indicate git status in the sidebar tree.

Hi, just wanted to say that it's probably the one feature i miss in SublimeText3, being able to see at a glance commited, and uncommited git files status in the side bar.
So i'd like to request that feature too.

I tried looking into doing a plugin for just that, but i can't seem to find any way to control the sidebar other than writing the json files (as SidebarEnhancement does) or change/tweak theme colors in theme, which won't work for this case.

If any one has an idea, just direct me to the right class/file or information.

Is it even possible to get access to sidebar item display event?
Can't find any thing about that in the api either.
Or is that handled in the compiled bin file and not exposed ?
