How much would you pledge to open source ST?

#1

I don’t even know if the owner(s)/dev(s) would have any interest, but I’m just curious, how much would you pledge (idk, kickstarter or something) for ST to go open source? I think i’d pledge the cost of at least one license.

i aqctually think 5 billion people all editing sublime text 2’s source files would just turn it into another eclipse abomination.

Good point, although open source does not mean that anyone else would necessarily have commit access to the official ST2 repo, but that they could make changes on their own and if the ST2 team liked them they could pull them back into the core.

I disagree, there are plenty of open source editors that are not the pile of crap eclipse is. Here are a few:

notepad-plus-plus.org/
kate-editor.org/
macromates.com/
projects.gnome.org/gedit/
jedit.org/
vim.org/

As for the original question, not that I think it’s likely but I could see my self donating 500 USD.
