Dev Build 3029

Dev Build 3029

Postby jps on Mon Apr 22, 2013 1:29 pm

Dev Build 3029 is out now. There isn't a huge amount of new things, but I'm hopeful it will fix the Linux issues introduced with 3028.

This is my first try with the new auto-updater (windows 64-bit portable)....very cool and blindingly fast! Also nice to see the changelog being opened up in a new window :-)

New startup speed is quite impressive. It's like night and day in my case compared to older builds.

Jon, how do you continuously make a fast product, faster? Like, really, what goes into it?

How's the autoupdater dealing with proxies? Does it read env vars?

No, seriously, how'd you make it that much faster to startup? I'm quitting and restarting all the time just for fun.

Actually, I'm quite interested in this as well. I have so far been unable to access anything online through python on my work PC, including Package Control. So far, the auto-update and update checks are the only connectivity that has worked...
