Use VIM Syntax Files and Checkers

#1

ST2 is great, but sometimes the syntax files are lacking or incomplete. It would be awesome to be able to use the extensive libraries from vim and/or emacs for syntax highlighting and checking.

Bump. At least a script to do the leg work of converting would be nice if a direct installation of .vim files is not feasible.

Bump. I agree, being now a Vim user, I really appreciate it’s community, and I think it is a very good idea.

While this post may not contribute much, I would like to express my interest in such an endeavour. VIM’s syntax highlighter offers more than the current (Ruby) ST2 highlighter.

I’m also very interested in this.

+1. Not that it is a dealbreaker in any way, but in my experience VIM syntax highlighting works a lot better than the Textmate versions of the same syntaxes. And the syntax files are cleaner and easier to develop.

Since VIM is using a GPL license, it will not be possible to use the existing syntax code, though.
