Default file encodings

Hello,

Two quick questions.

1. What is the default file encoding on newly opened documents? (newly opened as in CTRL+N)

2. Is there a way to override this setting in the user file preferences?

Hi!

1. Apparently UTF-8 without signature.
2. I suppose you could write a simple plugin to control this. But to answer your question, it doesn't seem to exist an option that would do exactly that.
