Newbie can't make Emmet Work

Newbie can't make Emmet Work

Postby DonnySF on Fri May 03, 2013 1:08 am

Hi Everyone!

I'd love your help on this one!

I'm new at coding...this is my 14th career at the age of 52!

I got the utube video to help me install Emmet.

When I go to Preferences > Browse packages, I see that Emmet is in my package folder.
So that looks ok.

When I go to Sublime text and open a new page, Emmet does not seem to be working.

I did close Sublime text and restart after installing Emmet, as instructed.

I also tried restarting my computer.

I understand I have to use the "tab" key to make Emmet work, but it doesn't. Also tried the "return" key just in case.

any ideas?

Thank you!!

Blessings to you all,

Donny

From your description, it sounds like you left the default syntax, which is plain text. Try changing it to HTML then trying again.

Thanks.

I'm happy to do that.

How do I do that? Even if you can direct me to a webpage that gives instructions, I think that should work.

I'm really a newbie! but learning fast,

THank you and with gratitude,

Please cancel my question about how to change the text. I figured it out!

Here is the link where it's explained how to change the syntax

Basically, you go to the bottom right corner of the Sublime text screen and I saw the
word "plain." I just clicked and selected "HTML"

and now it works!

Thanks for that advice!! It was perfect..

I'm off and running now!

Best wishes to you,

Donny
