Bug report: auto_complete problem under 2.0.2

#1

I am using 2.0.2 of sublime text. I find that the auto_complete function is not as convenient as in 2.0.1.

In particular, in 2.0.1, if the pop-up window displays several choices, I use an arrow key to highlight the ideal choice and hit either space bar or the “enter” key to select it onto my code.

However,in 2.0.2, if the pop-up window displays several choices, I use an arrow key to highlight the ideal choice. BUT, when I hit either space bar or the “enter” key to select it, the ideal choice can not show up onto my code. I have to use instead “tab” to select it onto my code.

Is there any way I can switch back to the auto_complete function in 2.0.1 under 2.0.2? Thank you very much.

Verify this settings is correct:

// By default, auto complete will commit the current completion on enter. // This setting can be used to make it complete on tab instead. // Completing on tab is generally a superior option, as it removes // ambiguity between committing the completion and inserting a newline. "auto_complete_commit_on_tab": false,
The default value is False, so you’ve probably changed it somewhere.

I’m pretty sure nothing was changed between 2.0.1 and 2.0.2.

Thank you for your prompt reply. I checked preferences->settings->default and found that there was no problem with “auto_complete_commit_on_tab”: false,". Previous convenient operations just vanished. Very weird.

I am using R 3.0.1 through sublime text 2.0.2 under windows 7 with 64 bit. I used this post to install R 3.0.1 through st 2.0.1,

Enter view.settings().get('auto_complete_commit_on_tab') in the Console (accessible via the View menu) to see the value that’s being used

Hi,

First, I uninstall ST2 completely and reinstalled it again.
I checked files in" view-> show console", there was nothing like this “view.settings().get(‘auto_complete_commit_on_tab’)”.

Then, I installed package control and the “SublimeREPL” package. I checked the files in" view-> show console" again, there was one additional line which looks suspicious,
Error loading commands: Error trying to parse file: Trailing comma before closing bracket in C:\Users\Tom\AppData\Roaming\Sublime Text 2\Packages\SublimeREPL\Default.sublime-commands:6:1”.
But I am not sure.

The following is the what I have got from “show console” now"

[quote=“goren9”]First, I uninstall ST2 completely and reinstalled it again.

You have to TYPE this line in the console, hit ENTER and look at the result (True/False).

My advice:
-Download the portable version of ST2
-Unzip it somewhere
-Run it and test if you have the correct behavior.

If it works, you have a problem of configuration or a plugin that change the operation of ST.
Note that only uninstall and reinstall is not enough to reset ST in the brand new install state, you have to follow http://www.sublimetext.com/docs/2/revert.html

Hi,

I typed the information in the console, and found the answer was “false”.

It seems that sublimeREPL package (for R software) has changed the behavior of ST 2.0.2.
Hope an updated version of sublimeREPL package will come out very soon.

Anyway, thank you very much, bizoo and jps. You people are very helpful.

I am a big fan of ST2. Hope ST2 will be as accessible and convenient as in the past in the future.

From the settings file of SublimeREPL:

// standard sublime view settings that will be overwritten on each repl view // this has to be customized as a whole dictionary "repl_view_settings": { "translate_tabs_to_spaces": false, "auto_indent": false, "smart_indent": false, "indent_subsequent_lines": false, "detect_indentation": false, "auto_complete": true, "line_numbers": false, "gutter": false, "auto_complete_commit_on_tab": true },
The problem only occur in REPL views ?
If so it’s very likely that you have to change these settings for your need.

Yes, the only package I am using now is SublimeREPL.

I checked the identical settings file in my ST 2.0.2, and manipulated T or F values a few times, and the problem still existed.

Now I quit. I can survive with “tab” key.

Anyway, thank you and jps. Have a good day.
