Please make ST3 available in OSX 10.6.x

The thing is, Apple also adds features every OS, and usually these make things easier (or possible at all) for developers. Jon has already stated that he's using features that simply don't exist in 10.6.

Bring "Save As" back from where?

Other than a few Apple-made apps such as Keynote or TextEdit (which use "Duplicate" rather than "Save as"), I rarely find apps that don't include "Save as," even under Mountain Lion (even Apple's own Mail.app offers the feature). Versions/Autosave are systemwide features that apps CAN use, but they certainly don't have to. In fact, Sublime Text 2 and 3 offer "Save as," regardless of OS X version.

Sounds like you may be having an overreaction to something you previously experienced or heard about Lion and/or Mountain Lion, but I assure you, I "save as" all the time on 10.8, and nobody's come to take my Macbook away.

I have 3 Apple computers all running 10.6.8, and would love ST3, but will not upgrade my OS to use it.

I second that.
After using ML for some time, I switched my main Mac desktop back to Snow Leopard: It's a leaner, faster OS.
And I'll keep using ST2 if ST3 is not available, which would be a shame.

Agree with others. I understand complexities of software dev and end users, lot's of organisations are using Internet Explorer 6 or 7  But, . . . Rosetta was completely killed off in Lion and other applications may need that.

A good example is Adobe Suites, they need Rosetta. Older versions are still more than capable of doing what people need and therefore no reason to upgrade. Recently Adobe moves over to subscription based and therefore cuts the upgrade for many devs [yes there are alternatives, even though I love the likes of GIMP it is still lacking].

After reading reviews of Lion I decided not to upgrade so no ST 3 is a big shame. I came to ST from BBedit recently and do prefer ST but upgrade path is now cut off - I've still got a license for BBedit, I'd hate to go back. Updates from BBedit still work in 10.6+

Catering for older systems is always a pain, especially when it is for the likes of Internet Explorer (even I.E. 7 is way back to 2006) but Lion only goes back to 2011. ST IMO should cater for a few years before then.

I still think ST is a fantastic product.

Rosetta is the reason I haven't upgraded off of 10.6. I still run office 2003 and like some old video games from the 90s, so upgrading would ruin half the things I use on my personal laptop. I perfectly understand why ST3 isn't available on Macs, but why isn't ST2 available for download anymore? That has all of the functionality I'm looking for, and works pretty damn well.

ST2 is available: http://www.sublimetext.com/2

I admit that page is confusing, it looks like it's for ST3 betas. But the links at top are for downloading 2.0.2.

Now that Mavericks is out, you could upgrade to 10.9, for free?

Amsel was saying he still needs Rosetta, though, which isn't available in Mavericks.

Hi! I know this is an older thread but in case others (like myself) just needed(?) some ST3 on 10.6.8... I just edited the plist file and changed 10.7 to 10.6. I know this sucks and does not address the needs of the code (though I did install libcxx & libcxxabi) but all I wanted was the really really really nice GUI editor. I mostly work on linux but some of the work computers are 10.6.8 (and some are Win 7). Anyways I know its a hack and other functionality may not work, but what I wanted works and has for many weeks.

BTW, no inconvenience at all - Great Product.

Brett

P.S. When the time comes to update Mac.... and if we stick with Macs... then it will be a relief to just buy ST3 and have it run :)
