is there any way for me to buy a license without resorting to PayPal? I really, really, really don't want to use PayPal as I don't agree with this company and some of their business practices.

Unfortunately, there isn't yet, no.
I'd like to add support for Google Checkout, but they're not yet available to Australian merchants.

Curse you jps for making a nice editor. I've relented and will soon order a license once my funds get transferred to PayPal.
