Some requests and bugs

#1

Hi,

First of all thanks for this great editor, just found this on WebUpd8 and so far I am really impressed.

So some features I would like:

  • Drop down menus on status bar for Syntax, Tab, Encoding and Line ending selections. Example on first image, first editor is Gedit and second is Geany.

  • Would be also nice to see total line count on statusbar.

  • Better auto completion. Would be nice to see what parameters function takes, and on LaTeX completion for things like \begin{tabular}, autocompletin works for \begin part but not for tabular. Netbeans has quite nice implementation: http://rhasan.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2009/09/basic_autocomplete1.png

  • I’d like to hide tabbar but then I don’t see witch file is active, so it’d be nice to see on sidebar which files are active.

Some bugs I noticed on Linux version (Ubuntu 10.10):

  • Can’t select multiple files on open file dialog.

  • Can’t resize sidebar.

  • Multi panel layouts aren’t working. When I enable any other than single panel all I get is black text area. (Second image).

Multiple panel layouts have always worked for me on Ubuntu, but I have made some changes in this area in the latest version - I’d be grateful if you could let me know if they’re now working for you in 20110130.

re: status bar, more items will be coming in the future (Sublime Text 1 has these, they just haven’t made it into 2 yet)

re: sidebar, it can be resized (by dragging or double clicking on its right edge), but there’s no resize cursor on Linux yet to indicate that you can - it does make it a bit tricky.

Multiple panel layouts don’t seem to work even with latest version.
Also I have had some problems starting Sublime at all.

When executing sublime_text from terminal I get:

'import site' failed; use -v for traceback

edit: Seems like I have to run it directly from directory, I had symlink to sublime_text in my ~/bin and that broke it.

I’m using quite many PPAs so I might have some experimental packages that cause problems. I’ll check if everything works on default Ubuntu install on VirtualBox if I have time.
