The announcement for Sublime Text 2 mentioned a "project switch" capability from the search anywhere box, but not how to do it. Do I need to prefix with a special character?

Try ctrl + shift + p.

Also, if you take a look at Preferences/Default Key Bindings in the menu, you can find any of the default key bindings pretty easily.
