ST3 automatically outdents improperly

Using 3083 on Win7 x64 Pro and an HTML filetype.

When wanting to create a simple

with a

inside, I close the opening

and it auto-creates the closing
(this is fine, and expected. But I then move the cursor into the
and indent to where I want to start typing, and the moment I type the ‘<’ for the opening ‘

’, ST3 outdents back to the indent level of the parent

tag. This has been slowing driving me insane, and, sorry to say, I’m just not familiar enough with ST3’s massive array of configuration options to know where to look for modifying this behavior. Can anyone help me with this?

OK, so the culprit here is “auto_indent”. When set to TRUE, we get the issue. However, now with it set to false, if my code is indented 8 times or so, I have to now press tab 8x PER LINE to get to the same place. This simply cannot be how auto_indent works. Going to try to look up documentation.
